ChronoCast AI turns a photograph into a short narrated comic. To do that, the photo you choose is sent to our processing service and to our AI providers, which read the image, write the story, illustrate each panel from your photo, and speak the narration aloud. This Privacy Policy explains what ChronoCast accesses, what leaves your device, how it is used, and the choices you have.

The short version: ChronoCast has no user accounts and no cloud library. The photo you choose is sent to our backend and AI providers solely to make the comic you asked for; it is processed transiently and is never used to build advertising profiles or sold. Every comic you make is stored on your own device. Deleting the app deletes them.

1. Information You Provide

The core input to ChronoCast is a photograph — captured with the camera or chosen from your library. You may also provide, optionally:

  • A short description of the place and the era you want the story set in, either typed or spoken.
  • Your choice of visual world, narrator, and narrative perspective.

ChronoCast does not ask for your name, email address, phone number, or any account credential, because it has no accounts.

2. How Your Photo Is Processed

When you make a comic, your photo and the text of your request are sent over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection to our backend, which relays them to:

  • Anthropic (Claude) — reads the photograph to suggest what and when the place is, and writes the story and the narration text.
  • Google (Gemini) — illustrates each panel. Your photograph is sent with every panel request, because keeping the result recognisably your place is the point of the product.
  • ElevenLabs — converts the narration text (never your photo) into spoken audio in the voice you selected.

This processing is transient: your photo is used to produce your comic and is not retained by us to build a profile of you. These providers process requests under their own commercial API terms, which do not permit using submitted content to train their models. We do not attach your name, email, or an account identifier to these requests, because we do not have one.

Photos of people. If your photograph contains people — including you — their likeness is part of the image sent for processing and may be reinterpreted in the illustrated panels. Please only photograph people who are happy for you to do so, and consider that before making a comic from a photo of someone else.

3. Video Export

When you tap to make a shareable video, the MP4 is assembled entirely on your device from the panels and audio already stored there. Nothing is uploaded, and the video never reaches our servers or anyone else's. It is saved to your device, and shared only when you choose to share it.

4. Device Permissions ChronoCast Uses

  • Camera: To photograph the place you want to transform.
  • Photo Library: To let you choose an existing photo instead, and — if you save a video — to add it to your library.
  • Microphone and Speech Recognition: Only while you hold the microphone button, to turn what you say into the text of your request. Where your device supports it, this transcription happens on-device.

You can change or revoke any permission at any time in the iOS Settings app. ChronoCast does not request or use your location.

5. Where Your Data Lives

  • Your comics — the panels, the narration audio, the story text, and your original photograph — are stored locally on your device so you can reopen them offline.
  • We do not operate a cloud library. There is no server-side copy of your comics, and no way for one user's comic to reach another.
  • Deleting a comic in the app removes its files. Deleting the app removes all of them.

6. Analytics

ChronoCast does not embed advertising SDKs and does not track you across other apps or websites. Apple may provide us with aggregate, anonymised App Store and crash statistics through standard developer tools; these never include your photos or your comics. This website uses privacy-friendly page analytics that do not identify individual visitors.

7. Subscriptions and Purchases

ChronoCast offers an optional ChronoCast Pro subscription and a one-off credit top-up, both sold through Apple's In-App Purchase. Payment is processed entirely by Apple; we never receive or store your payment-card details.

Subscription status is managed through RevenueCat, which acts as our processor for purchase validation and receives a randomly generated, app-specific identifier along with Apple's transaction data. That identifier is not linked to your name or email, because we do not collect either. Your remaining comic count and purchased credits are tracked on your device, not on our servers.

8. Third Parties

The external parties involved in ChronoCast are: Apple (in-app purchases and system frameworks), our hosting provider (which runs the backend that relays requests to the AI services), Anthropic (reads your photo and writes the story), Google (illustrates the panels from your photo), ElevenLabs (narration audio from the story text), and RevenueCat (subscription validation). We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising or cross-app tracking.

9. Your Choices

  • Grant or revoke Camera, Photo, Microphone and Speech access in iOS Settings at any time.
  • Choose which photos you turn into comics — nothing is sent until you tap Transform.
  • Delete any comic from within the app, or remove all local data by deleting the app.
  • Manage or cancel a Pro subscription through your Apple ID settings.

10. Data Security

Requests to our backend and to every AI provider are sent over encrypted HTTPS connections. Comics stored on your device benefit from iOS's built-in file protection and your device passcode or biometrics.

11. Children's Privacy

ChronoCast is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
